C. van de Watering & Zn. selects standard solution for the food industry
Fruit and vegetable wholesaler signs contract with Schouw Informatisering
Etten-Leur, 9 July 2010 - Today, fruit and vegetable wholesaler C. van de Watering & Zn. signed a contract with Schouw Informatisering for the implementation of an integrated standard solution designed specifically for the food industry. Schouw Informatisering supplies this integrated solution which consists of Microsoft Dynamics® NAV and the additional sector-specific software package SI Foodware®.
C. van de Watering & Zn markets a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, and exotic products and is constantly expanding its product range, which it sources from countries from all over the world. C. van de Watering & Zn has a subsidiary in the south of France, La Cabanne du Soleil, that grows many exclusive types of lettuce for distribution.
The need for an integrated total solution arose following developments in the market and the expansion of C. van de Watering & Zn. Schouw Informatisering was selected because, in addition to the specialist solution for the food and beverage industry, Schouw also has consultants with a great deal of knowledge of and experience in the food and beverage industry.
Integrated total solution
The previous information system that C. van de Watering & Zn. used was not integrated with the financial administration. Now with Dynamics NAV and SI Foodware, the fruit and vegetable wholesaler will have a standard integrated total solution. The financial modules are integrated and it is now possible for each company in the group to use the same standard IT system. Using SI Foodware will enable C. van de Watering & Zn. to meet the demands and requirements of the food and beverage industry, such as fast close, actual inventory values and the ability to view end of month result per batch, now and in the future. The new ERP solution from Schouw Informatisering will enable the company to calculate margins per product, to generate improved budgets and to get a better grip on costs.
Scope
Once Dynamics NAV and SI Foodware are implemented there will be 15 active users. The implementation project includes purchasing, sales, inspection status, complaints, logistics, RF scanning, transport, accounting and fixed assets. Furthermore, the implementation will include the consignment management module, which is mainly used by organisations in the fruit and vegetable sector. This solution will enable direct insight into both the logistics and financial status of batches and it will mean that the month closing will reconcile properly with the financial administration. This applies to the situation where no regular purchasing transactions are recorded, but where purchasing is based on commission, joint account or minimum guarantee.
